We are enthusiasts, not institutions. Read on to understand exactly what we are, what we are not, and what that means for you.

Who we are

Mediterranean Excellence Alliance ("MEA", "we", "us", "our") is an unregistered digital-first initiative run by a group of individuals who share a passion for Mediterranean culture, heritage and achievement. We operate a website, a newsletter, and social media channels. We are not a registered company, foundation, association, or any other recognised legal entity. We make no claim to institutional status, official recognition, or affiliation with any government, national body, or international organisation.

We are enthusiasts, not arbiters

Everything published by MEA — on this website, in our newsletter, and across our social media — represents our own personal enthusiasm for the Mediterranean region. We do not claim to be objective, impartial, or representative of any country, community, or people. We celebrate what we choose to celebrate, in the way we choose to celebrate it. Our selections, features, opinions, and editorial decisions are entirely subjective and made solely at our own discretion. Nothing we publish constitutes an official endorsement, ranking, certification, or award in any legally recognised sense.

No warranties or representations

All content on this site and in our communications is provided for informational and celebratory purposes only, on an "as is" basis. We make no warranties — express or implied — as to accuracy, completeness, fitness for any purpose, or non-infringement. We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or outcomes arising from reliance on anything we publish. We reserve the right to correct, update, remove, or change any content at any time without notice.

No claims, titles, or prizes

At this stage of our activity, MEA does not confer, award, or guarantee any legally binding title, prize, monetary award, scholarship, or benefit of any kind. Any recognition, feature, or designation we publish is honorary and informal — a celebratory gesture from a group of enthusiasts, nothing more. Participants and featured individuals acknowledge that no legal relationship, employment, agency, or partnership is created by their involvement with MEA.

Third-party content and links

We may share or link to content created by third parties — individuals, publications, or organisations. Such links do not constitute endorsement. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site or service. Any logos, trademarks, or names of third parties remain the property of their respective owners.

Newsletter and social media

By subscribing to our newsletter or following our social media channels, you acknowledge that all content shared is informal, personal, and editorial in nature. You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by following the link in any email we send. We will not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes. Our social media conduct is governed by the respective platforms terms of service in addition to our own discretion.

Intellectual property

The MEA name, the olive-sprig mark, the wordmark, and all original text and design on this site are the property of the individuals behind this initiative. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use them commercially without our written permission. Content submitted by participants — photographs, videos, written pieces — remains the property of its creator; by submitting it to us you grant MEA a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish and share it across our website, newsletter, and social media channels in connection with our activities.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the individuals behind MEA shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of this site or participation in any MEA activity. This includes, without limitation, loss of data, loss of opportunity, reputational harm, or reliance on any MEA publication or communication.

Governing approach

We are a digital initiative with no fixed jurisdiction. We nonetheless commit to acting in good faith, treating participants and visitors with respect, and complying with applicable data-protection principles including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies to visitors from the EU. If you have a concern about your personal data, write to us and we will respond in good faith and in reasonable time.

We may update this page at any time. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
